Jeppo Biogas Oy

Jepuan Biokaasu Oy is a biogas company focused on nutrient recycling and renewable energy, which produces energy from the by-products of agriculture and the food industry. Operations at the Jepua Biogas Plant were started up in 2013, the plant processes approximately 140,000 tons of raw materials annually and the annual biogas production is 30 GWh. Most of our raw materials come from the food industry and agriculture. Municipal wastewater is not treated at our facility.

In nature biogas is produced by bacteria and this is also the case in a biogas reactor. In Jepuan Biogas  tanks, bacteria eat digestible pulp, multiply and produce biogas in addition to digestion. A gas containing methane, carbon dioxide, and small amounts of sulfur bubbles on the surface of the sludge, rising to the roof of the tank and from there for further processing. From this process, gas is led directly to heat production or through refining and pressurization to fuels.

With biogas production, raw materials are processed to be suitable for fertilizer use and all our raw materials are approved for organic production. The nutritious and almost odorless power of Jepua can be applied to the field as it is, because fertilizer is hygienized in the plant so the farmer does not spread pathogens or weed seeds in the field. In the growth force of Jepuan, phosphorus and nitrogen are in a soluble form, making the nutrients available to plants as soon as the growing season begins. Nutrient leaching is reduced when the fertilizer does not need to be applied beyond the needs of the plants.
